Ballet Royale has a long-standing tradition of producing professional dancers who are constantly in demand at the top of their field. Such success is achieved by a careful balance of the student's ability and passion and the instructor's care and knowledge. Ballet Royale's artistic staff is comprised almost entirely of world-class instructors who trained as young dancers at Ballet Royale themselves before furthering their education.
In 2008, Ballet Royale Director Donna Pidel became part of the first group of ABT Certified Teachers. In 2009, Ms. Pidel became one of only three Affiliate Teachers in the nation.
Ballet Royale Institute of Maryland offers a comprehensive education in both classical ballet and contemporary dance through its belief in arts immersion. Combining precision technique based on European models with personal attention and intensive training, the Institute provides students with skills for the present and tools for the future, whether they choose to become dancers or not.
Since its founding more than fifteen years ago in Columbia, Maryland, Ballet Royale Institute has become the premier dance academy in the metropolitan Baltimore and Washington, D.C. areas, serving dance students of all ages and experience, as well as the local community. The school is based on getting to know the students as people and getting to know each one’s individual character. Alumni have received prestigious awards and gone on to successful professional careers.
